Composing Rhythms With Ashley's Dance Steps

During a rhythm lesson, one of my bright students choreographed some dance steps to go along with the rhythms we were focusing on that day: Ti-ti, Ta, and Rest.

  • Ti-Ti:  hop first on right foot and then on left (keeping your feet about a foot apart)
  • Ta:  jump up once landing with both feet together
  • Rest: hold feet slightly apart and, without making a sound, put your finger to your lips as if saying "shhhh"
It is really fun to have my students clap or write out a rhythm for me and then see if I can "dance" the rhythm back to them.  It keeps me on my toes too.

These dance steps added a lot to the lesson.  Thanks Ashley!
